    Vague Rouge

    Bordeaux, France

Sébastien Chaumet grew up among Bordeaux vines, the son of a winemaker, and built his négociant house Crus & Prestige on the same principle he absorbed in childhood: that the work behind the bottle matters more than the name on it. Vague Rouge is his answer to a Bordeaux that is genuinely accessible without being ordinary — named for the red wave, the Atlantic current that shapes the Gironde's climate and gives the region its distinctive balance of richness and freshness.

The Bordeaux rouge is Merlot-led with Cabernet Sauvignon: ripe black fruits, generous texture, supple tannins and the kind of balanced structure that holds up by the glass or over a long meal. The Sauvignon Blanc draws from the terroirs of southwestern France — citrus-driven, lightly mineral, built for food rather than standing alone. Both are made to be poured, not collected.
